On Baton Rouge?
Hands on Baton Rouge, a program of
Volunteer! Baton Rouge, provides rewarding,
meaningful volunteer opportunities that have a
positive impact on Baton Rouge.
Whether you are
working, in school, parenting or retired, Hands On
Baton Rouge offers you a variety of opportunities to
get involved all designed to fit into your busy
schedule. You can volunteer for a one time project,
once a month or once a week. You can volunteer
on your lunch hour, after work or class or on the
weekends. We make it easy and convenient!
Who does Hands On
Baton Rouge serve?
Hands On Baton Rouge
develops monthly calendared projects in partnership
with other community-based organizations in the
area. We work with Volunteers of America, St.
Vincent de Paul, the Battered Women's Program and
many others.
How can I volunteer?
Visit the
Member Center section of the website and sign up for
an account. Next look at the calendar and if you see
something that interests you just click the "sign
up" button. You will receive an email from us
confirming your registration for that particular
project. You will also receive another email with
more specific instructions- directions, specific
tasks etc. It's that easy!
Can I just show up to
a project?
No. In order to
provide detailed information to our Project Leaders
and Agency Partners it is important to know how many
people are going to attend the event. Your
pre-registration for a project lets us plan ahead
so that you, the agency staff and other Hands On
Baton Rouge volunteers can have the best experience
possible!
Can I bring a friend
or family member to a project?
Having accurate
information helps us plan and provide the best
volunteer experience possible. Therefore we ask that
all volunteers register first with Hands On Baton
Rouge. You can always contact your project leader to
see if there is any available space. If so you can
point the person you want to bring to the website to
register!
What is the age limit
for volunteering with Hands On Baton Rouge?
Hands On Baton Rouge
volunteers are at least 18 years of age. On occasion
we offer "Family-Friendly" projects that are
appropriate for parents to attend with their
teenagers and/or children. These projects are
clearly noted on our project calendar. Teens under
the age of 18 MUST attend with a parent or guardian
and must have a consent waiver or form filled out.
All volunteers must be registered with Hands On
Baton Rouge.
How can my non-profit
agency partner with Hands On Baton Rouge?
Hands On Baton Rouge
is always in search of new community partners. We
work with local non-profit organizations to create,
promote and direct a wide range of short-term, group
volunteer projects. Please complete the "Agency
registration" under the "Partnering Agencies" tab.
